The Rainforest Precinct at Melbourne Zoo is currently under construction and once complete will showcase the extraordinary rainforests of the world featuring the Ringtail Lemurs.
In collaboration with Urban Initiatives Landscape Architects and Snowdon Architects our team
took a holistic approach to the precinct with the aim of subtly intregrating infrastructure and interpretation into the landscape creating a streamlined and immersive experience for visitors.
The Rainforest Precinct offers multiple opportunities for visitors to connect and interact with the Lemurs including; a woven entry feature, ambient soundscapes, leaping lemur spiny play poles, lemur yoga benches, lemur pods with cultural stories, a Lemur vocalisation interactive, a sculptural pod treehouse with treetop viewing of the rainforest and an AV display.
Melbourne Zoo’s world class conservation messages, including the Gorillas’ “They’re calling on you” mobile phone recycling programme,
can also be seen throughout the precinct via intregrated interpretation.
